This semi abstract woman is desperate for an end of lockdown hair cut. But can she get an appointment soon - noooooo she can't. So instead she is having a home haircut provided by a graffiti style character while another powders her nose. Painted with Neocolor 2 and Stabilo All. Prints and Original available.

When I am working, I usually start with a rough pencil line first. Once I am happy with that I start adding the Neocolor 2 pastels. Then I use water in some areas to create a little smoothing and to add flourishes (paint strokes). Next I work back into areas with Neocolor if needed.

At this point I usually take a photo and then digitally work out what I am going to do next. I like being able to test things out before trying them on paper. Finally I add the outer marks and characters with Stabilo All Black pencil and a black Neocolor.

I really enjoyed drawing this semi abstract man. I thought he looked like he could be a graffiti artist so I have put one around his eye and graphics around him. He was created using Neocolor 2 water-soluble wax pastels and Stabilo All Black Pencil on Canson Coloured Paper. You can find prints and originals available to buy in my shop

Graffiti Man

During the lockdown period Sky TV have been running a celebrity paint-a-long each Sunday on their Facebook Page. Each week they have had a celebrity sitter and a previous winner or finalist of Sky Portrait Artist of the Year painting them. The great thing about it is that each week artists at home all over the world have been painting along.

I have loved the series and have painted each week. I am really sad that last Sunday was the final Episode. Here are the semi-abstract celebrity faces that I painted over the last 9 weeks.
